A week ago today, Aryan left the arena in a confused state, after narrowly avoiding what would have been a match-ending chair shot from President Shay Semmens. A week ago today, he left the arena not knowing exactly what the future held, knowing only that it would not be an easy one. And he was not wrong. Because now, as the crowd doesn't quite fill the AWO arena, but comes close, tonight's Poison is about to begin. And tonight, there is only one match on the card, and one match the crowd has come to see. And this match is a gauntlet match. This match has been set up to bring Aryan down. But that is what the Survivor Championship is all about. Four men. One goal. Survival. And in Aryan's case, the word holds the truest meaning of all.
Pyros suddenly go off as the crowd cheers and a remix of Alice Cooper's 'Poison' sounds through the air.
Rob: “Hello again and welcome one and all to another edition of Monday Night Poison! And it’s a small event we have for you this evening, but by no means a bad one. It promises to be entertaining, even if there even is only one match on the card.”
Steve: “And I’m still not sure about this match Rob. I mean, why does President Shay suddenly have it in for Aryan? This match was uncalled for. Prez Shay should be working towards helping Aryan blossom in his career, not try to destroy it. But having said that, I’m sure he knows what he’s doing.”
Rob: “Quick to take comments back, aren’t you Steve?”
The fans cheers reside quickly, as Larry begins to speak from the center of the ring.
Larry: “Ladies and Gentlemen… welcome to Monday Night Poison!”
The fans grace his comments with further cheers, but they quickly die.
Larry: “The following match is for the Survivor Title, and is set to be a gauntlet-styled match. Aryan will enter the ring first, and following him, the order between Mike Icon, Chris Bond, and The Slapster will be completely random. The last man remaining at the end of the match will be crowned the new Survivor Champion. Now, introducing your first competitor…Aryan!”
The fans give a mixed reaction as ‘Sonne’ by Rammstein hits, and Aryan’s trademark blinding light shines from the entranceway. Larry hightails it out of the ring as Aryan steps into the light, sending his silhouette across the arena. His arms are raised in his cocky pose as usual, despite his limited chances in the upcoming match.
Steve: “You have to feel for this guy, going into this match.”
Rob: “I don’t have to feel anything for him. I know the fans have taken a liking to him, but I think it’s ridiculous.”
Steve: “Whoa, touchy…”
The light fades as Aryan walks down the ramp, allowing fans to look at him without fearing temporary blindness. He climbs the steps and steps through the ropes, into the ring. Once there, he looks around at the crowd, before leaning up against the ropes at the other end of the ring, facing the entranceway, not knowing who his first opponent will be.
Rob: “The first opponent really makes little difference to Aryan. Either way he has to go through them all.”
Steve: “Yeah, but he’s probably hoping to go against Bond first, to get that out of the way quickly.”
Rob: “Assuming he can even beat Bond. Aryan’s record has become quite shaky as of late.”
Suddenly ‘Mouth for War’ by Pantera hits and the crowd boos.
Rob: “Oh my! Looks like it’s gonna be The Slapster!!!”
Steve: “Erg, this looks bad for Aryan”
Fire shoots from the entranceway as The Slapster appears on the stage, grinning. Aryan rolls his shoulders, stepping away from the ropes, as The Slapster slowly walks down the ramp. Slapster climbs the steps and lowers the top rope for himself, as he steps over it and into the ring.
Steve: “This is going to be a tough one to start with. One wonders at this point if Aryan will even make it past the first round. I don’t believe Aryan and Slapster have ever gone against each other, have they Rob?”
Rob: “I can’t recall a time when they have.”
The bell is rung and the two begin to lock up, but Aryan quickly pushes The Slapster’s hands away and moves to the side, knowing he’d never win the test of strength. He begins almost skipping around the ring, as The Slapster circles on the spot to keep track of him. Eventually, Aryan stops, and goes back in the other direction. The Slapster begins changing directions too, but then stumbles slightly, obviously becoming dizzy. Aryan seizes the chance and charges forward, but only as far as a huge chop from The Slapster right into his chest!
Steve: “Whoo!”
Rob: “You shouldn’t be encouraging them Steve. That’s not an AWO thing.”
Aryan grabs at his chest and spins, stumbling away, as The Slapster reaches forward and grabs him by the hair, pulling it back hard! Aryan’s head snaps back and The Slapster releases his hair, sending him flying onto his back! The Slapster then takes a few steps back and jogs forward, attempting to hit Aryan with a leg drop with his thunderous thigh. Aryan, seeing this from a mile away, however, quickly rolls away, and rolls right out of the ring, as The Slapster hits nothing but the ring mat as he drops.
Steve: “I don’t think Aryan knows what to do against the size of The Slapster. I’m not sure Aryan has ever come up against someone this big.”
Aryan tries to climb back onto the ring apron, but The Slapster is already up and tries to attack him, swinging down at him from over the top rope. Aryan ducks away, and steps away from the ring. The Slapster, not wanting to lose momentum, steps over the top rope to begin the chase. As he does, however, Aryan races forward and slides into the ring, grabbing The Slapster’s foot as he does. The Slapster, having only one foot on the ring apron and the other over the ropes, is pulled off balance, but doesn’t fall, as he grabs the ropes for support. Aryan quickly jumps to his feet and runs to the other side of the ring, rebounding off the ropes, and comes hurtling back. He tries to hip and shoulder The Slapster, but The Slapster just grabs Aryan’s head! Aryan struggling to let go, finally grab’s The Slapster’s head, and lets himself drop, pulling The Slapster’s head down and clotheslining it into the top rope! The Slapster bounces clear off the ring apron, and crashes onto his back on the mats on the outside!!”
Rob: “Vital blow there for Aryan. That’s pretty much the only offensive move he’s been able to pull off.”
The Slapster lies there on his back, gathering his breath, while Aryan makes a dash for the turnbuckle closest to his fallen opponent. He reaches the top rope and wastes no time jumping off, landing down on The Slapster with a Shooting Star Splash!
Rob: “Impressive. Where did that come from?”
Steve: “Well he is a high flier Rob. Aren’t you supposed to know this stuff?”
Rob: “Well yeah, but when was the last time he actually did something like that?”
Of course, the real question is how smart the actual move was. Because as impressive as it may have looked, in the end, Aryan may have hurt himself more than The Slapster. Aryan rolls off him and crawls away, but suddenly The Slapster reaches out and grabs Aryan’s foot!! The crowd, who have just stopped cheering for the high flying move, gasp as The Slapster sits up, and turns to stare at Aryan, whose foot he still has tightly grasped. He stands, and Aryan also tries to stand with his other foot, but The Slapster pulls the foot he has, sending Aryan back down, before swinging it. At first Aryan is just slightly dragged along the protective mats, but on The Slapster’s second attempt, he pulls Aryan into the air and swings him right into the ring barricade!!
Steve: “Yeah, this size difference is really affecting Aryan.”
The Slapster releases Aryan, and walks over to him, dragging him back to his feet by his hair. Aryan tries to grab The Slapster’s throat in an attempt to do… something… but it doesn’t work. The Slapster then whips Aryan hard into the turnbuckle. Aryan hits it shoulder first with a thud and bounces off, falling to one knee.
Steve: “I wanted to believe Aryan could pull through this, but it’s looking doubtful.”
The Slapster looms over Aryan and reaches down to pull him back up again, but at the last second Aryan ducks away, pulls up the ring apron and disappears under the ring. The crowd cheers, confused, as The Slapster looks around the two sides of the ring he can see, and watches to make sure Aryan doesn’t come from behind. Finally, he gets down onto his knees and looks under the ring where Aryan went. Terrible timing. For exactly as he does, Aryan comes out the other side of the ring, and jumps the ring barricade, merging with the crowd a few rows back!
Rob: “He’s… running away!”
Steve: “If he is, why does he have that metal pole?”
Sure enough, Aryan now seems to have a metal pole with him. It’s no bigger than baseball bat. He begins to work his way through the crowd to behind where The Slapster is kneeling. The Slapster gets back to his feet, more confused than ever, just as Aryan jumps over the ring barricade behind him. Hearing the crowd cheer, he turns, back only into the steel pipe as it crashes down onto his forehead!
Rob: “I feel I should remind our viewers that this match is a No Disqualification match, so anything Aryan does is completely legal!”
The Slapster doesn’t go down after one hit, so Aryan smacks him in the head a second time. Once again, The Slapster doesn’t go down, but he does stumble back. Aryan then winds up the pole, and slams it into The Slapster’s left knee. The pain finally gets to The Slapster and he drops to the one knee, the injured knee, which only seems to inflame it more. He grits his teeth as Aryan then reaches over to The Slapster with his other hand and rakes the big man’s eyes!
Rob: “Oh come on, I know it’s all legal, but was that really necessary?”
The Slapster clutches at his eyes, in pain, while Aryan slides the metal pole into the ring. He then slides in after it and runs to the ropes at the opposite side, ignoring it. The Slapster is just starting to open his eyes and look around again, when Aryan comes hurtling back, and slides under the ropes, hitting The Slapster in the side of the head with a baseball slide!!!
Steve: “He’s down!”
For the second time in the match, The Slapster finally hits the ground. Aryan, who landed on his feet after the baseball slide into Slapster’s head, begins stomping the very head he hit. The Slapster fights back by grabbing Aryan’s foot, but another big kick into The Slapster’s face and it’s released. Finally, when The Slapster seems to be finished, Aryan rolls back into the ring. It seems like he’s finished… but apparently not, as he rolls out of the ring on the other side, to steal the time keepers chair!!
Rob: “Well he’s certainly not taking any chances.”
Steve: “Do you blame him?”
Aryan is about to roll out of the ring on the other side, when The Slapster sits up! Aryan stops in his tracks, but remains cool, as he backs away from the ropes. The Slapster stands, slowly, and looks into the ring at Aryan. He then slides under the bottom rope, although barely fitting through, and into the ring… but as he does, Aryan runs up and slams the chair hard into The Slapster’s back!!!
Steve: “Ouch.”
Aryan drops the chair and jumps up onto the turnbuckle, where he poses with his clenched fist in the air. The crowd, knowing what’s coming, give a cheer.
Steve: “It’s Iron Fist time! This’ll knock The Slapster flat! Aryan looks like he’s the one going through to round two!!”
Aryan waits, and eventually gets what he’s waiting for. The Slapster begins to stir, and then stand. When he’s on his feet, he turns, slowly, and dazed, as Aryans leaps from the turnbuckle and smashes his fist into The Slapster’s face!
Rob: “The Iron Fist! He’s connected! This could be all! This MUST be all!”
The Slapster actually stays standing for a split second, a look of bewilderment across his face, before he goes crashing onto his back, eyes closed. Aryan crawls over to him and drops on top of him, not bothering to try lifting his massive leg. The referee drops for the count.
One…
Two…
Thre… but suddenly, The Slapster’s shoulder is thrown into the air!! Aryan is pushed off The Slapster, with a wide-eyed look of amazement, as the referee stands, signifying an unsuccessful pinning attempt. Aryan stands, slowly, still wide-eyed, and staring at the referee. He begins arguing with the referee, and finally pushes him! The referee falls back like a rag doll, but doesn’t lose consciousness, as Aryan turns and mounts the turnbuckle yet again. The Slapster, who in this whole time had not risen, not begins to.
Rob: “One Iron Fist couldn’t finish this man off! But is he really invincible! Will two do the trick?!”
The Slapster reaches his feet, but as always is looking in the wrong direction. Aryan waits for him to turn, but suddenly a voice rips through the air. The voice is that of President Shay Semmens, who is now standing at the entranceway with a microphone.
Prez Shay: “Hey Aryan.”
Aryan turns to look at the stage, and as soon as he does, The Slapster turns to, and shoves his hand around Aryan’s neck. Realising what’s happening too late, Aryan tries to fight back, but The Slapster lifts him clear off the turnbuckle, spinning while he does so, before slamming him down with a HellBender right onto the disregarded chair!!!
Rob: “Oh my god!! It’s over!!!”
The Slapster curls Aryan’s leg up as he lies on him for the pin, looking up at the roof.
One…
Two…
Three!!!
Rob: “A gallant effort, but my god how was he supposed to be able to withstand that! “
Steve: “This was supposed to be a gauntlet set up for Aryan, and he didn’t even survive the first round! But I bet that was exactly the way Shay wanted it!”
Speaking of Shay, he still stands at the entranceway, looking shocked, although it’s a clear fake expression, over what he’s done.
Prez Shay: “Oh… sorry. All I was trying to do was say ‘look out.’”
And with that, Prez Shay disappears through the entranceway. The referee doesn’t bother raising The Slapster’s hand, as the official match has not been won, but The Slapster looks fairly pleased with himself anyway. Aryan looks dead.
Rob: “What is with that man? What right did he have coming out here and interrupting this match like that?”
Steve: “Well Rob, he has every right. He owns this arena… this federation. He owns me and you. As far as rights go around here, there’s nothing he can’t do.”
Rob: “Well someone ought to teach him a lesson about power. Because he may have come across it easy enough, winning the NMW in a poker game against The Crow, but it can be taken away just as quickly and shouldn’t be abused.”
Steve: “Yawn. Either way, who will the next opponent be? You’d have to assume The Slapster doesn’t have much left, and he isn’t getting any time to rest, because here he comes!”
Sure enough, ‘Hating Hollywood’ by Theory of a Deadman hits and the crowd boos as Chris Bond appears on the stage, flanked on either side by President Shay Semmens and… Maverick.
Rob: “What the hell? Could this be what Maverick and Mr. Semmens were talking about? Is this the new Ego Trip?”
Steve: “Well it would make one mighty force. They’re all past or current champions.”
Rob: “Phhfft, this stable of three doesn’t even add up to the Mike Polowy / Maverick Ego Trip!”
Steve: “But look on the man on the right Rob. The man with power is the man who’s gonna be unstoppable. And that man is the current AWO World Champion, and with good reason. And I’m sure they aren’t going to let The Slapster walk away with this one here tonight. Suddenly my money is on Bond.”
Aryan is helped away from the ring by ring staff, and kept at ringside while Bond and his entourage walk down the ramp. Bond slides into the ring and The Slapster stays back. Once Bond is in the ring, Maverick and Prez Shay walk around the opposite side of the ring, to allow for the ring staff to help Aryan out of the ring. The fans give him a slight cheer as he leaves, and then turn their attention back to the ring. There, Bond is sizing up his opponent, which means he’s pretty much looking up. He charges forward and Slapster goes for a big punch, but Bond ducks and slides through The Slapster’s legs. Not all the way, however, as he kind of stops underneath The Slapster. The Slapster looks down, raises his foot, and slams it down onto Bond’s chest!
Steve: “Ouch, I think that shot there is about equal to everything The Slapster endured in the last match!”
Bond gasps for breath as The Slapster grabs him by the head, and lifts him right into the air. He grabs his neck with one hand, and with the other delivers a brutal punch into Bond’s stomach, before dropping him.
Rob: “Hmm, this looks over already.”
Suddenly, Maverick slides into the ring, not behind The Slapster but in front of him. The Slapster looks over, frowning, and begins to walk towards Maverick, pointing his finger at him as if to warn him to stay away, when Bond reaches out and grabs The Slapster’s foot. The Slapster trips forward, and Maverick grabs his arms, before spinning him around and taking him down with a MindBender!!!(Unprettier)
Steve: “Don’t count out Bond when those two are around!”
Maverick helps Bond push The Slapster onto his back before Bond covers him for the pin.
One…
Two…
Three!!! Bond climbs off The Slapster and raises his hand, before collapsing in the middle of the ring, holding his stomach from the earlier blows he sustained.
Rob: “Seems like the damage had already been done to The Slapster from the earlier match. An Iron Fist and a MindBender in such a short time? No man could withstand that.”
Steve: “But you know what that means! It’s going to be Bond versus Mike Icon to decide the Survivor Championship! But Icon is going to have to get through not just Bond, but it seems Maverick and President Shay as well!”
But before Icon’s music can even sound, The Slapster suddenly sits up! He stands up, with more speed then Ego Trip would like to see, and then begins to charge at them. Luckily, before he can get far, ring staff has run down and put themselves between The Slapster and their president. The Slapster decides to charge through anyway, pissed off about them costing him, potentially, the match. He knocks one of the ring staff down and other start hanging off his limbs in a futile attempt. Prez Shay begins yelling to the backstage area and guards come running down. Eventually, there are enough guards to completely subdue The Slapster. They begin to lead him away, but not before some final yelling and screaming from The Slapster. Ego Trip sneer back at him, insulting him as the guards clear out. But what they don’t realise, is that one of the guards hasn’t vacated the area. What they also haven’t realised, is that this man isn’t a guard, but is none other than Mike Icon!
Rob: “It’s Mike Icon! He snuck in with guards!!”
The crowd begins to cheer madly, as the crowd is cheered. Ego Trip, not knowing why the crowd is cheering, looks around. Maverick is the first to see him, as he turns to find himself face to face with the man who defeated him last week. Icon waves, and Maverick barely has time to form a shocked expression, as Icon grabs his arm and power whips him into and right over the ropes and to the outside of the ring!! Prez Shay, now seeing him, grabs the fallen steel chair from earlier and picks it up. Holding it too his chest. Icon takes a step forward, pretending to jump at him, and Prez Shay drops the chair in a panic and vacates the ring! Bond, the last to see Icon, barely has time to react as Icon come towards him. He manages a feeble clothesline attempt, but Icon ducks it, before wrapping him up and slamming him across the ring with the Most Awesome Suplex in Wrestling!!!
Steve: “What the hell!? Where did this guy come from!?!”
Quickly, before the other members of Ego Trip have time to compose themselves, Icon has fallen onto Bond for the pin.
One…
Two…
Three!!! Maverick and Prez Shay slide into the ring from both sides but it’s too late. The referee starts to hold his hand up and show the crowd his new Survivor Title belt, but Icon just grabs the belt and gets out of the ring before he can be attacked from both sides.
Larry: “Ladies and Gentlemen… your winner, and new AWO Survivor Champion… Mike Icon!!!”
Icon begins walking backwards up the ramp, with the two conscious members of Ego Trip glaring at him from the ring, not knowing how to react.
Rob: “My God! Icon has just made a mockery of the new Ego Trip on their first day! There’s gonna be hell to pay for this!”
Steve: “This… this Icon… where DID he come from! He’s had two matches, and they’ve been two of the fastest and most impressive wins I’ve seen in a long while!”
Rob: “Well, he was the last person in this match…”
Steve: “But you saw how he disposed of Ego Trip!”
Rob: “Well you are right about that… and like I said, next week, you can bet there’s going to be hell to pay.”
Mike Icon stands at the peak of the ramp, and raises the Survivor Championship to a cheering crowd. Prez Shay turns to Maverick and speaks something under his breath. Maverick looks up at Icon, unsmiling, and nods. Back on the stage, Icon stands there, unknowingly, holding the Survivor Championship high… as the show goes off the air.
