Rumour has it that Prez Shay and Mr. Matthews have been too busy to launch the AWO once again since they have been no where's to be found. There is also rumour that they flew to Vietnam to get some marijuana from the locals but have been too stoned ever since to realize how to start up their plane again so they can head back up to AWO head offices.

I'm both confused by who that girl is and her question.
A rumour isn't necessarily a lie, or piece of fiction. If it sounds like it could be true, that just makes for a better rumour.
However if you DID understand that I was being sarcastic, then here is my other answer.
A rumour doesn't necessarily have to be realistic. Also, rumours aren't necessarily true. Rumours are just rumours, things made up by people or facts people have heard on the grapevine.
Therefore, I can't see how that wasn't a legitimate rumour.
